About Rainy J

Some of my earliest memories are tied to food. I love the way familiar flavors, or a favorite bite can make you feel instantly at home. Growing up in Hawaiʻi taught me that food is never just food. It’s love, culture, and connection… and it’s the heart of everything I make at RainyJ.com.

Hi, I’m Laurel, the designer and owner behind RainyJ.com. This is where my love of food and creativity come to life through food-themed bags and accessories.

I was born and raised in Hawaiʻi, and that upbringing deeply shaped how I see food: as culture, comfort, and connection. Those memories and flavors inspire the pieces I create; each is designed to feel playful, personal, and wearable.

Today I live in Oregon. By day, I’m a Food Scientist working in Research & Development. By night, I’m a bag designer and sewist, bringing the same mix of creativity and detail to my sewing table. I sell my creations online and at markets in the Portland-metro area.
